With spring on its way it seems Rotary is coming out of hibernation with lots on the calendar. There is quite a mix of projects and services over the next few weeks so make sure you are involved in something - we can only support these projects if all our members get involved!
We have been successful with our 3 applications for district grant applications. We have secured a further $2,000 towards the upgrade of the Cromwell Youth Trust building, our 40th anniversary town clock project (which has recently had the go ahead from the Cromwell Community Board) receives $1,000 while our joint literacy project with Wanaka, Alexandra and Rarotonga clubs has received a $5,000 boost.
We recently received news that one of our recent PHF recipients Jimmy Woods passed away. He contributed much to our community.
Marj Bateman is now in the Ripponburn Home so pop in and see her if you are passing.
Jeanette Emmerson is now out of hospital (after spending 70 days there!) and having further rehabilitation in Christchurch. We wish her all the best on her recovery & hope she is home soon.
A group of Rotary & Lions members have been working on a joint project to build a new house with proceeds towards the new Cromwell St John station. This is a major undertaking that, with the help of building industry, will make a huge contribution to the rebuild.
We are once again running the House & Garden Tour with funds from this also going to the St John rebuild. This is on November 2nd so keep this date free in your diaries. This was very successful last year with tickets quickly selling out.
Jackie will soon have a calendar of our planned services and projects finalised and emailed to you. Don't forget to have a look and see where your skills and interests can assist with some of these events. Don't be shy - let us know where you can help!!
