Central Otago Health Services Ltd. [Dunstan Hospital] are planning to replace their Patient Transfer Ambulance which has now completed more than 500,000 km. Planning and identifying funding sources has been underway since mid-2022 with a plan to order a new vehicle in the near future. The vehicle is in use most days transferring patients between Dunstan hospital and other health care facilities and is a familiar sight on the roads between Clyde and Dunedin. COHSL’s application for ‘Lot 47’ funding was unsuccessful, but Pulse Energy Lend a Hand Foundation have promised a small grant and the upcoming Bayleys’ charity golf tournament being held in Cromwell on 17th March have also promised funds. So, if you are unfortunate enough to need the services of this Patient Transfer Service you can take comfort in the fact that the service is made possible by support from your local community.
