Hello Everyone
Well it has been a bit of a rollercoaster month with COVID coming and going from Auckland, weather either scorching or appalling and then, this morning the poor folk up north had earthquakes and the Tsunami threat.
We had an imapct our selves with our visit to the Polytech campus being cancelled because of students arriving from Auckland.
However we have had some great times over the month including a very lively visit to Armandos, a great presentation from our 4 RYLA attendees and a couple of PHFs awarded.
Congratulations Tony for your well deserved recognition of the work you do for the youth of our community.
As those of you who were at the meeting will agree, I was blown away by the surprise of my PHF an extremely humbling experience but a very proud Rotarian. Thank you :)
We have had a bit of a delay getting this Bulletin out to you and please accept our apologies if you have been left in the dark for a little longer than usual.
We have a number of interesting things coming up during March...
Monday 8th:  Meeting at Cromwell Town & Country Club. Central Otago area speech finals - We have 3 candidates who will give their speeches to our club after dinner on Monday evening at T&C Club. Wanaka, Queenstown and Cromwell all have very worthy speechmakers hoping to make the cut and get to Waimate for the District finals at conference at end of March. This will be a great event - you are all most welcome to bring guests - just sign them up please if you do. We will also have a short presentation by the Head Boy and Girl of Cromwell College prior to the speeches.
Saturday 13th: Mokihi Trust Community Maintenance Day 9am-10.45am - Join a maintenance session at the 45th Parallel, fixing up nets, watering and weeding. We want these plants to survive our hot Central summers
Monday 15th: At 5.30pm we will gather at Saleyard Road where the owners of the biggest building in Cromwell will show us through their brand new plant specialising in the manufacture of high-tech timber structures and prefabricated timber panels for residential and commercial buildings. A sign up list will be produced and emailed out early next week to give the business numbers attending and to cover off Health and Safety requirements.
Friday-Sunday 19-21st:  A number of members will be attending the district conference in Waimate and promoting Cromwell as a spectacular location for the 2022 conference. Thank you to Allan Derrick for the brilliant promo video.
Monday 22nd:  No meeting - Otago Anniversary Day
Friday 26th and Saturday 27th: The Red Puppy Appeal will be held over two days in two locations. The New World and Fresh Choice. A sign up list with details will be created and sent out to all members.
Sunday 28th: Mokihi Trust Community Maintenance Day 9am-10.45am- Join a maintenance session at the Richards Beach, fixing up nets, watering and weeding. We want these plants to survive our hot Central summers
Monday 29th: A social night out at The Stoaker Room. Our social convener Craig, will be in touch again soon with more details of the evening but be certain to put a "save the date" into your calendar.  This is one you won't want to miss.
Here's hoping for some more warm summer days and evenings before the end of daylight saving.
"Judge each day not by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant"
Warm regards
Pam

Stories
RYLA
Four Young Professionals from Cromwell were selected to attend the Rotary Young Leaders Awards in Queenstown in January.  Ethan Lunn from Feldwick Insurance, Kelsi Fastier from Cromwell Pharmacy, Sarah Manlangit from Vinpro and Eden Wilson from Cromwell Youth Trust spoke to the February Club meeting about their experiences at the 5 day live in course.
They all agreed that they had learned valuable leadership and communication skills that would be very useful in their careers. The club was heartened to hear of their positive experiences and to be able to offer support to such talented young leaders.

New PHF’s

Tony Streeter was surprised by President Pam with a PHF award at the February Club meeting and then District Governor Elect Nick Wood turned the tables and surprised Pam back with a PHF too. Thank you from us both for the support from fellow club members

Summer sports evening for our harvest workers
Great to be part of this event helping with food and manpower on the BBQ.
Well done Cromwell Community House, Connect Cromwell, Sports Central, Operation Summer Harvest, Summerfruit NZ & everyone for a great initiative. Over 70 kiwi & international workers attended who are getting the jobs done in our community.  They were very grateful for an evening of sharing games & food
