Its fast approaching, my stepsons wedding on 1st March, so it’s all go around our house getting the section tidy and wedding preparations sorted. I think we all have under control, so now we just have to sit back and enjoy.
It’s pretty much like Rotary projects, it’s the preparation, if well planned then the event itself becomes easy. I feel that’s what we have going with our club, we have some great people working together to make things happen smoothly.
Eugeno, our Chilean RYE student has settled in well with the Woods, please make sure you get involved, too make his experience a memorable year.
We are hosting a Professional Development Group from Tasmania 20, 21, 22 of April. Murray Kennedy is in charge and looking for a couple of people to help host the Delegate’s, please help where you can.
John Hardy spoke to us recently about Seasonal Solutions, employing South Pacific  people to come down and work in Central Otago and the success they have had, and also some of the problems this can cause back home and how they are addressing that.
Neil Bulling gave us an update on the new Lifestyle Village and new hospital about to start being built, it’s been a very successful venture and they now have people on waiting list to buy a unit. More positive things for Cromwell.
Double Glaze It gave us an insight to their new factory and how they double glaze existing windows. It was very well received by our members attending and thanks to Kris and the team for the beers too.
We have final figures in from January book sale, profit of $4750. The directors have recommended $4000 go to Rotary  Foundation and $750 goes to Polio. We also recommended to buy 2 Emergency Response Kits at $600 each. We await Trust approval.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards are being held in Oamaru in April. We have decided this year to only send 1 Person. If you know of someone that could benefit from this let me know and we can have them complete an application form.
Keep an eye on the Club runner calendar, for up and coming events

Eastern Access to Cromwell gets a Makeover

Monday night saw a team from Cromwell Rotary and some enthusiastic community members turn out to clear dead plants and unwanted growth from both sides of the access road to Cromwell at the eastern end of the Deadman's Point bridge.  Tussocks now have more than a fighting chance of survival.  Do stop off and have a look at the clearance next time you are passing.  Rotary says a huge THANK YOU to the members of the community who came along to help - and also acknowledges the lovely toots received from many of the motorists and truckies as they drove past during the clean-up.

Rotarians and locals get to work at the bridge entrance to Cromwell. including Rotary exchange student Eugenio Monasterio, (white t-shirt) newly arrived from Chile, and studying at Cromwell College this year.

Thanks to Cromwell Rotary and the Otago Motor Trust Club the children attending Cromwell's primary schools, preschools and kindergartens are now more clearly visible when they are out and about around the town.  Pictured here is Rotary President Craig Lunn in the playground at Kids First Kindergarten surrounded by some of the children sporting their new fluoro jackets.

APOLOGY PROCESS CHANGES
To make it easier for everyone to remember from now on we ask you to put in an apology each week if you are not able to attend Rotary.

The 1st Monday of each month we plan to do a vocational visit. This is just a regular Rotary meeting but we visit the speaker at their business and then go for a social drink and a meal if you would like. It is very interesting to see businesses in our area and great for Rotary to be seen out & about. We need to have some idea of numbers attending.

The 2nd & 4th Monday of each month we will have a speaker and a meal at the T & C. Apologies needed for the meal

The 3rd Monday of each month we will be out & about in the community - a social outing or an hour or so of service followed by fellowship. On these evenings please put in an apology if you cannot attend any of the evening ie the community service or the fellowship. For some social activities Helen will ask for numbers a few days ahead to assist with organisation.

40 Year Celebrations

In September this year it will be 40 years since our club was chartered. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate all that our club has achieved & also look forward to where we want to head.

We are looking for people to help organise in 3 areas;

  • A function to celebrate

  • A project to commemorate

  • A recorded history

It would be great if people would put their hand up. Let Craig or Neroli know if you are willing to help out

Rotary is a worldwide network of inspired individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes to change lives in communities.
