Bulletin Briefs 2 August 2022

Presentations from Club members at the most recent meeting on 25 July

Doreen Evans gave a talk on her recent adventure - scuba diving in Fiordland.  This was accompanied by a rolling display of underwater photos, giving us a feeling of being there!  The crayfish looked enormous, and the group of divers were only allowed to bring up the amount they would eat that night.  Sustainability was foremost on this trip.

Mark Mexted gave an insight into his world!  Photographer of birds and quirky photos of speedway vehicles, and crashes on car race tracks.  Mark loves working at Jones' Orchard, which he enthusiastically told us about, and he is enjoying becoming more involved in the Cromwell community via Rotary.

Past District Governor Nick Wood told the meeting about the Regionalisation Pilot that is being undertaken in Zone 8.  There will be no differences at Club level.  Members are invited to go to creatingtomorrowrotary.org. Clubs will soon be asked to vote on whether to be part of this Pilot.  Stuart also talked to the meeting - this had been talked about when he was a Rotary International Director some 10 years ago.

The Regionalisation Pilot

Further to the presentation above, it has been noted that members are being asked to vote on entering a pilot and if successful we will then look at suitable structures. No pilot equals no change.

Club Vocational Visit 1 August

Doreen is arranging vocational visits this year and to kick the year off, invited all to her home on 1 August to share a pot luck dinner and an insight in to Rock and Roll dancing which several club members have taken to lately.  Those who attended shared some great food, activity and laughs.

Coming up

Club meetings are scheduled for 8 and 22 August at the T and C Club.
Please note there is no club activity planned for Monday 15 August.
A Guess Who is Coming to Dinner event is being planned for 29 August.

Guess Who is Coming to Dinner 29 August

Our first Guess Who is Coming to Dinner is planned for August 29th.  We have left August 15th free so you are not over burdened with Rotary this month and are free to join in this wonderful opportunity to get to know more about fellow Rotarians and partners.  You may think you already know them but its amazing what you discover over good food, good company and maybe even a few drinks.
Make sure you let Adrienne know as soon as possible if you can make it.

Central Otago Lego Show

An outstanding effort by all involved and an amazing outcome achieved as evidenced by this presentation photograph.
