Well we are into spring now and so far the weather has mainly been very nice.
We are heading into a very busy time for Rotarians.
Just a quick recap over the last month first. We had Monique Harvey speak on the Cancer Society and what they do in the community leading into Daffodil Day. The collection day netted $6000 so well done team. We had a very nice cake for my birthday at that meeting also - thanks to my wife Jo.
At the next meeting we were given a talk by our District Governor Andrew Hamilton bringing us his energy and passion on Rotary.
The following week we had the Otago Polytech trainees seafood dinner night. It was a nice night and the food was presented beautifully.
This week past, we had our head boy Regan and head girl Greta from the College who gave us an update on what’s been happening at the College. Wow, these two are an inspiration to our local students with what they have achieved over the year to date. I wish them well next year heading off to university.
Recently Rotarians helped to plant trees around the 45th parallel sign on the main highway between Cromwell and Wanaka.
Last weekend we spent a couple of hours weeding at Deadman’s point around the tussocks planted last year. In that 2 hours we made a big difference and it's starting to look really great. We will have another weeding night on 15th Oct to try to finish the job.
Coming up... we have 45th Parallel working day building wings on the steps, followed the next day by the Holden Street Smart Driver Training Day. A team is also heading to install our Rotary sign at Richard’s Beach.
Paula’s team is well under way with organising the House and Garden Tour day scheduled for Saturday 27th October.
We are soon to start our meeting nights fortnightly from 8th October. On the other Mondays we will be heading out into the community to do working bees and business tours etc.
We have a couple of gardens to tidy up on 1st Oct for people suffering from illnesses, so I’d appreciate a full team effort as this is a great way to get our name out to the public and they are great causes.
We also have the Blood pressure day, lead by Keith Morgan coming up in October,
Have a great month and enjoy spring.
