A great CREW attended the 2021 Distrist 9980 conference in Waimate this past weekend. It was an excellent weekend with 3 extraordinary keynote speakers, focussing on diversity and inclusion, brilliant speech competition finalists, great insights into the experiences of the returning Rotary Youth Exchange students and an inspiring visit to a developing eco sanctuary in the foothills behind the township.
The tone of the conference was relaxed and inclusive, the theme was Green, so the Cromwell Rotary Eco Warriors CREW shared green times with local girl Sarah Hurdle, a past RYE student, who was at the conference as a member of the Dunedin Rotoract Club.

A photography competition was held during conference and many extraordinary entries were received and shown to us. The first place silver plate was awarded to our own Murry Kennedy for his selfie shot with Denis and Lorraine at the top of the cycle trail up White Horse Hill. It was a decent climb according to Lorraine, and Denis did it using his own pedal power!! Well done to you all for your effort and to you for recording the moment so well Murray.

Incoming District Governor, Nick, hard at work lobbying the crowd to meet in Cromwell next year for the last 9980 conference.
